JAKE MILLS “Future: Unfiltered” This artwork focuses on the subtle differences between society now and society in the future, and how people continue to live their lives and interact with things around them.

In using my subject matter of the person standing in front of the mirror, I demonstrate the advancement of humanity into the future. The clothing choices and stance of the person all give an insight into what society may look like in the future, and how even in mundane situations like this one, changes can still be seen.

In this artwork, there is a clear juxtaposition between the expression of the subject, and the calming hues of purple that surround them, aiding in creating an interesting scenario. The editing techniques employed in Photoshop combine to create a psychedelic feel to the image, where colours and lines intersect with each other, symbolising the emotions of the subject and the striking aesthetic of the work itself. JAKE MILLS “Transcending” This artwork focuses on the large-scale changes seen in future societies, where cities and transportation have been reimagined, but still remain grounded in reality.

In using my subject matter of the hovercraft navigating its way through a redefined concrete jungle, I seek to demonstrate not only human advancement, but also the drastic changes in technology, some of which are being developed today.

In this piece, purple and pink hues dominate the landscape, reinforcing a calming atmosphere, but one that feels slightly alien to our own world. Furthermore, the aesthetic qualities combine to make this almost uncomfortable, due to the busy nature of the artwork. The techniques used in the 3D modelling software allowed me to create thick atmosphere, resembling fog, which emphasizes the peaceful tones, as well as offers a more abstract look at pollution and its effect it may have on the future if not handled appropriately now.
