WILL WEST ‘Punctured Sunset” This artwork showcases the views of buildings from the perspective of someone looking to the horizon from inside a city. This specific angle of view allows me to replicate the feelings of nostalgia that I feel when I visit the city. Having the view set from the height of a person’s eyes, with buildings rising above, I was able to capture both the size and characteristics of large buildings and structures, but also the realism of looking up at them, and the feelings related to that. The sunset lighting was chosen to frame the buildings in all their glory, I felt as though the orange and pink tints better outline the shadows and silhouettes of the buildings and provide the audience with a sense of warmth.

“Structured Solace”
The design of this artwork is made up almost entirely of ruled linework. The artwork shows a small city of large buildings displayed on a small curve of the world’s surface. Each building is standing on a separate angle, making it appear as though they are bending with the world’s surface. This style of design loosely resembles a comical cartoon scene transition. The ink colours chosen for printing were cyan, magenta, yellow and black, these reflect the 4 key colour components in printing and colour as we know it. The same design was printed on sperate pieces of paper, in each of those 4 colours, they were then displayed on a custom designed board themed to camera film reel. The film reel design further reflects the printing theme, complementing the CMYK colours. The final layout design presents the artwork to the audience as if they were viewing photos through a camera reel.
